How To Want The Right Things
| ||
We as individuals need to think straight and arrive at our own personal definitions of what we want, and this post will show you how to do just that. Thinking straight can have some direct effects on your life, including, but not limited to:
1. Help us decide exactly what we want out of life.
2. Give us the courage to go after what we want.
3. Progress towards a more interesting and creative life.
4. Better handling of unexpected situations.
Nowadays, most people never arrive at a satisfactory solution to their basic desires, because they go through the ‘motions of living’. They live and die without ever taking that time to think about their purpose in life and what they want out of life. The result is that they never enjoy the thrill of personal growth and achievement that comes from the pursuit of the worthwhile goal.
After all, no two people are exactly alike. In some respects, each one of us is different from anyone else who has ever lived or who ever will live.
Our desire to do something comes first, for the simple reason that desire is the greatest motivating force in human life. Our ability to actually do it comes second and our capacity to handle the human relations involved comes third.
Half of the battle is over when a person really wants to do something: automatically driving them to develop their ability to do it eventually, if not immediately. not to mention a person is just naturally easier to get along with when they are doing what they like to do.

He wanted one thing: to win.
How to start this?:
1. Put your desires down on paper.
2. Break down the desire into smaller steps to actually accomplish it.
3. Test your abilities and human relations to be sure that your desires are realistic and achievable.
This self-analysis will reveal probably for the first time in life exactly what makes a person tick. "What you want doesn't mean a thing unless you do something about it".
Make the first step exciting and successful. It helps to get involved in your new interest right away. Keep ideas to yourself until they are fully developed. It gives the guts to take a first dive, we have our first step just naturally nice to the second step and third step and every step that follows. When a person knows how to Think Straight and arrive at a sound solution to everyday problems, life is lot more fun and you've got a much better chance of getting what you want out of life than a person who just... "muddles through". There is no scientific method for solving everyday problems, and no matter what kind of problem you bump into: money, job, marriage, divorce, children, or whatnot- you can make up your mind and be right by following the simple step of straight thinking. Distinguish between what's important and what isn’t so that you don't get overwhelmed by the details.
Build a balance sheet on important problems so that you can avoid the mental torment of uncertainty, and so you can quickly arrive at a sound decision with minimum wear and tear on mind.
Learn to use the delayed response to important problems, which is the first sign of Intelligence. Whatever progress you make towards getting what you want out of life depends largely on those people who have confidence in you or believe in you- beginning with your mother and ending with your last friend.
Look ahead to the years to come and build your own personal design of achievement.
Man or woman, we all know that adult life just naturally divides itself into 3 parts- the earlier years, the middle year and the later years. No matter how old you are right now, you will see how the special requirements of your present situation, as well as your future, can be met.
As long as a person entertains bold dreams for the future, they are never too old to accomplish them. Let me give you three excellent examples I came across:
The caped crusader knows what he wants... |
Bruce Wayne, commonly known as Batman, was raised with a silver spoon. His parents were killed but he remained clear about his goals in his life and started working towards them. He wanted the criminals of his city to be punished where the law was not enough. The day he decided to rely on himself, things started moving. Automatically his abilities developed, he started getting training and honing the right skills to become a crime fighting detective and accomplish his goals.
In the real world, I have a cousin who was enjoying her life as a housewife, managing the home and taking care of the kids. One day while she was in her forties, her family received the shocking diagnosis that her husband is in the final stage of the tumor and did not have long left to live. She mourned for a while, but she found there is no solution unless she stands herself and takes care of children. She took a decision of managing family and set a goal of giving children best possible education. Her 50% problem solved the day she took the decision and things started moving.
My father all these years never bothered about savings or future plan, at the age of 70 felt that he need to have saved for himself and to my mom. That was a really intelligent decision taken by him ever I felt. He converted his small portion of agricultural land into non agricultural land and sold it and put money in his and my mother's name fixed deposit. he feels more confident now as well as my mother.
It's very well written and inspiring Aunty.
